Erythroxylum coca

"Pei" in Shipibo means "leave." Inca Pei, the Inca’s leave, the Coca.

Coca has been used for thousands of years in the Andes and the Amazon and is still considered a sacred plant, child of Pachamama and a gift from God. There are many traditions around Coca and many ways of using it.

Coca is considered a master plant with many properties. For the Shipibo, the Incas are the people who live in the Andes, but also higher spiritual beings. Coca helps us connect with these beings and receive healing and guidance from them.

Coca awakens the body and mind by infusing a vivid and vibrant energy. Working deeply in the mind, this plant centers and strengthens it, removes negative thoughts, and brings clarity and focus. It is a medicine of joy, but above all, a medicine of gratitude. Coca opens the mind and heart to gratitude.

The inner world of coca is like a journey through the Andes: mountains, valleys, Inca temples. And because coca connects us to the sky, stars, and sun, it is common to see this astrological realm in visions. The world of coca is mainly green, with much gold and light.
